Manufacture of the new Ford Focus Coupé-Cabriolet gets underway

On February 21, 2008 Ford and Pininfarina celebrated the start of manufacture of the new Ford Focus Coupe-Cabriolet.

The new model, which will make its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show, will be on the market in Spring 2008. Like the other models in the Focus family, the new Coupe-Cabriolet has a gutsy, sporty look, thanks to the “kinetic design” approach, the new styling concept developed by Ford: it has a new, sportier front, a bonnet with an original
three-dimensional curve and completely new light clusters, chrome grille and front bumpers. The quality of the interior has improved significantly with 4 comfortable seats and an array of safety features: reinforced bodyshell and immediate activation of the roll-bar if the car should overturn.

The “job one” ceremony for the new model, attended by dozens of representatives of the Italian press, was held at the Pininfarina plant in Bairo, where the Ford StreetKa and the previous version of the Focus Coupe-Cabriolet have both been built.

With an output capacity of 220 cars a day in two shifts, the Bairo plant employs some 550 people.

Since being struck by a tornado in June 2007, the plant has been equipped with a new area for water tests.
