Lorenza Pininfarina

Born in Turin on August 23, 1952, she graduated from the Massimo D’Azeglio Classical High School in 1971 and earned a Degree in Business Administration, Marketing Specialization (108/110).
After a six-month internship in the United States (Detroit, Michigan) in 1979, she joined the Turin Manufacturers’ Association in 1980, working for seven years as liaison with Parliament and European Institutions.
In 1987, she joined the family business where she held increasingly important positions until 2003: from manager of the Press and PR Office to Head of Communication and Image and Deputy Chairman for Brand Strategy.
She has been a Director of Pininfarina Extra since 1995 and serves on the Board of Pininfarina S.p.A., the Group’s Parent Company, since 1987 handling special assignments.
Since 2006, she coordinates the Strategy Committee of the Pininfarina Group.
In 2000 she was honored with the Maria Bellisario Golden Apple Award, Businesswomen Section, as Italy’s communication and image manager of the year.
Since 20002 she is Chairperson of the Bodywork Manufacturers’ Group within Anfia (Associazione della Filiera Automobilistica Italiana) and sits on the Advisory Boards and Managing Boards of Anfia and CUNA (Commissione per l’Unificazione dell’Autoveicolo).
She was a member of the City of Turin’s Mission to Essen in 2004 and, in 2005, was instrumental in securing from the ICSID (International Council of Societies of Industrial Design) the designation of Torino World Design Capital 2008.
In 2004, she was as an Operating Member of the Committee for the Promotion and Organization of the Fencing World Championships and the European Special Championships held in Turin in 2006.
She served as Ambassador of the City of Turin for the 2006 Olympics and is a member of the Governance Board of the Ambassadors’ Association, which was created after the Olympics to provide continuity for Turin’s cultural and industrial promotion.
Since 2006, she has been a member of the Scientific Committee of the show entitled “PIEMONTE TORINO DESIGN, Culture of the Industrial Project in the Regional Area,” which ran from January 26 to March 19, 2006. This show, which is currently traveling throughout the world, was sponsored by the Piedmont Regional Administration, the City of Turin, the Turin Chamber of Commerce and the Turin Society of Engineers and Architects.
Also in 2006, he joined the Scientific Committee of Virtuality, an annual Turin event on the world of virtual technology.
Since 2007, she serves on the Coordination Committee of ATA (Associazione Tecnica dell’Automobile), which was founded in 1948.
Since 2007, she has been a Member of the Scientific Committee of Dream, a show on the future of the automobile organized within the context of Torino World Design Capital 2008.
For two years (2004 and 2005), she served as joint editor of the magazine Autodonna and works as marketing and communications consultant and freelance journalists for Italian and foreign publications.
Since 2004, she has been a contributor of La Repubblica newspaper, writing an op-ed column on economics.
She has been Deputy Chairman of Anfia since 2004.
On August 12 2008 she was appointed Provisional Deputy Chairperson of Pininfarina S.p.A..
