THE PROJECT

A luxurious two-seater roadster

Creating unique cars for individual clients is part of Pininfarina’s DNA, and the Hyperion confirms its skill and mastery in creating peerless models. The name Hyperion is borrowed from one of the Titans of Greek mythology. Pininfarina was inspired by this figure to create a two-seater car that expresses architectural and figurative grandeur, and conveys this car’s great historical and emotional value. This unique example was derived from the Rolls Royce Drop Head Coupé and it had its world preview at a prestigious event in America, the Concours d’Elégance at Pebble Beach, the most important rendezvous for historical and custom-built cars in the United States.

HYPERION

How

The Hyperion was created by the most expert Pininfarina designer and built by master craftsmen. To reproduce the proportions of vintage cars, the style and line of the body had to be completely revised. The hood was re-designed and built so that it folds under a wood-veneer cover, the driving position was moved back and the rear seats have been eliminated.

Fluid, harmonious surfaces were designed to balance the volumes. The front recalls the classic Rolls-Royce grille, but it is mounted at an angle. The upper trapezoid part links up aerodynamically to the bonnet and windscreen, while the inset headlights and LED technology emphasise the car’s spirit, elegance and technological value.

The shape of the tail is pure Pininfarina and recalls the legendary sports “berlinettas” of the Fifties and Sixties with their short tails; it slopes strongly downwards with a flat bottom, a solution borrowed from boat design.

The interiors maintain an atmosphere of luxury and glamour that culminates in an element of outstanding originality: the clock, which was created by Girard-Perregaux specifically for the Hyperion, can be removed from the facia and worn as a watch, attaching it to a special strap.

The bodywork is built entirely of carbon fibre, guaranteeing precise geometries, outstanding rigidity and unexpected lightness, while the details of the exterior and interior wood finish hark back to luxury boats in the choice of materials and the tradition of the execution.

HYPERION

Why

A custom-built car that revives the appeal of these historical cars of the Thirties; starting from this brief, Pininfarina has conceived a two-seater model with a grandiose bonnet and prestigious, elegant bodywork.

The Hyperion is a car that expresses in full the values of both Pininfarina and Rolls-Royce, and its styling and details recall the capacity that period cars have to make people dream.

HYPERION
